Porter's love -hate relationship!

So my little man will be 18 months next month...I can't believe...but that's another story! For some reason, I 've been having a hard time coming up with balanced ideas for my little Porter. He's pretty much always loved food, but here lately he's been somewhat finicky, maybe he's teething, I'm not sure. One minute he loves food anf everything I make, the next...not-so-much. But I found n awesome website that has sample menus for toddlers and great recipes to sneak wholesome items into their diet. Check-it-out!

My Dad

I just got off the phone with my Dad. I wanted to take a minute and let him know that I think he's great. I can never remember a time when he wasn't working his hardest to provide for our family. He was constantly sacrificing for our little family, and I hope he knows it was never unnoticed. He's starting a new endeavor in life and I want him to know that I believe he can do it. I know he's feeling overwhelmed and frustrated and thinks he's incapable.....but we all think differently. Thank you for being one of my best friends.

" And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them." - Ether 12:27

Fun weekend

We don't really have anything exciting to announce or blog, but I feel like I've neglected my updating duties and I'll give a short report. Rob and I did a leansing diet this week. Its a combination of a vegetable soup and different foods you introduce back into your diet with the soup, it made me feel pretty good. Its the Sacred Heart Medical Diet. I lost 5 pounds in a week but it was probably all of the crud that was built up in my system. I started classes again on Tuesday, i'm nervous because I'm finally starting the math...I've put it off as long as I can. So far so good, but its just review...and surprisingly enough I remember more than I realized. Little Savannah had developed a nasty cough on Wednesday which soon turned into the famous dry, barky cough, but luckily we are super prepared and trained to treat nasty coughs! We started her inhaler and breathing treatments witha combination of sitting in the bathroom with the hot shower going and "playing in the clouds"- breathing the steam. This combination normally helps her pretty quickly. She's doing much better already. Porter man is doing great. I hosted book club today and one of my friend's brought her cute little baby girl and Porter was so infatuated! He wanted to hold her and kiss her and watch her, it was too cute! We have another new couple that moved into the ward and they came over tonight with some other friends of ours it was so much fun. Rob bought a wii this afternoon, so we broke it in tonight!

Bridal Shower

So today was my awesome soon-to-be sister-in-law's bridal shower. It was so much fun. It was a 1950's housewife themed party. It was exciting to get dressed up and spend some time with my mom, Savannah and Briahna. They did such a great job with the food and decorations. They had a brunch and decorated the tables with old fashioned candy and cookbooks from the 1950's. Then behind Briahna they had a clothesline with old fashioned aprons hanging on it. How fun! Anyway Merill and Briahna got some great gifts, and it made us all so excited for the wedding next month! Yay!

Ok I found this recipe and had to share!! Yummo!

Cranberry Almond Pound Cake

2 1/2 c. sugar

1 c. + 2 T. unsalted butter

3 t. almond extract

6 eggs

1 c. sour cream (full-fat is best for super moist cake!)

1/4 c. water

1/4 t. baking powder

1/2 t. baking soda

1/2 t. salt

3 c. flour

2 c. cranberries (fresh or frozen)

Glaze:

2 T. water

1 1/2 c. powdered sugar

Mix sugar, butter and almond extract. Add eggs and sour cream, mix well. Mix in water. Add baking powder, baking soda and salt, mix. Add flour and mix well. Fold in cranberries (rinse first to make sure there aren't twigs or bad berries in the bunch). Butter/flour a bundt pan. Pour the batter into the buttered pan and bake at 325 for 1 hour or more. Test with a toothpick. Rest for a few minutes in the pan before inverting and cooling on rack. When barely warm, drizzle with glaze.

Everyday Minerals

So a friend of mine told me about everyday minerals. Its just like bare minerals except without a couple of the harsher chemicals, its even more pure than bare minerals...if that's possible! Well if you order for the first time from their website you can order their free sample kit that comes with 3 foundations, a blush, and a concealer. I thought this was a pretty good deal, all I had to pay for was the S&H which was $3.18. I have very sensitive skin on my face so I'm giving it a try! To try it go to :
