New Haircut

I am so upset! As we all know my brother's wedding is this weekend, and I wanted to go get a trim and I sometimes have to go get my hair thinned out with thinning shears because i have extremely thick hair. Well I tried a new salon, and it was a huge mistake....this woman who cut my hair gave me super short layers and just trimmed a little off the bottom, so it looked like a mullet!!!! (I'm not even sure if thats how you spell it) Anyway I was so upset, I just wanted to go home. I went home and cried to Rob, and he told me just to cal back in the morning to see what they could do for me. Well I called this morning and someone different was working (thank goodness) so I asked her if I could come in so she could fix it. As you might know I've been trying to grow my hair out, and have been doing a pretty good job. Well this girl ended up having to cut off a ton to make it all look more even! I'm so upset, but it is just hair, and it will grow! But unfortunatly it will be in my brother's wedding pictures forever!!! *tear*
Here's a pic of it, I have bangs too, but they're pinned back.

Snapshot of V-Day

Here's a picture of our Valentine's Day date. We went out the night before, and went to the Melting Pot and had an awesome dinner.

Quick notes

So Sunday was Porter's first Sunday in nursery. He did so well, he went right in and sat the the table and worked on a puzzle. I just stood there, I think it was harder for me to leave. I really need to start leaving him with other people more often. Not just for him, but for me.
Porter had another hearing test yesterday and he did fabulously! He has his 18 month check-up tomorrow!
We are also happy to announce that eyesore known as our dining room table is GONE!!! Yay! We purchased a new one yesterday!
I'm also so excited that we have 10 days until my little baby woobie (Merrill) is getting married!!

Sweet Treat

With Valentines Day coming we wanted to share a YUMMY recipe the me and the kiddos are making for Rob for tomorrow. Now with this recipe you can use ANY combination that you wish. We are using chocolate cake mix and Nutella instead of frosting, its really easy and super fun to make.

Cake Bites

  • 1 package chocolate cake mix
  • 1 container prepared chocolate frosting
  • 1 bar chocolate flavored confectioners coating or melted chocolate of your choice
Directions
  1. Prepare the cake mix according to package directions using any of the recommended pan sizes. When cake is done ( and cooled), crumble into a large bowl, and stir in the frosting until well blended.(just use enough frosting to act as a binder, so use until you can shape into balls)
  2. Melt chocolate coating in a glass bowl in the microwave, or in a metal bowl over a pan of simmering water, stirring occasionally until smooth.
  3. Use a melon baller or small scoop to form balls of the chocolate cake mixture. Dip the balls in chocolate using a toothpick or fork to hold them. Place on waxed paper to set.

18 months

Our little Porter will be 18 months on Saturday!!!

The harness debate

So this Saturday our little man will be 18 months!! I can't believe how fast time is moving. That being said, he has become a very active curious little boy which sometimes makes taking him certain places a little more difficult. He really hates sitting in a cart or stroller. He will do everything he can to get out, or if I strap him in he will scream and cry the whole time. I've always thought that those little harnesses they put on toddlers looked so weird, like you were walking your kid or something. BUT I must admit that I bought one today. I haven't used it yet, but it is kind of cute, it has a little monkey on it and then a really long tail that I can hold. We never had this problem with Savannah, she was always content in a stroller or cart. So I'm not sure how I feel, should I harness him? All I can think of is that SNL skit about Mike Meyers as a hypo hyper kid in a harness strapped to the playground.

Birthday weekend #2

This past Thursday my little girl turned 5, and on Friday my Dad turned 45! My parents were able to come down to celebrate with us. I made a butter pecan cake for my Dad and a little chocolate cake for Savanni. They got in on Friday night, and on Saturday we opened some presents, went to Savannah favorite restaurant Pei Wei and went to the Science museum (thanks Sharon and Steve). We had such a good time, it was the first time we have ever been to this science museum, and there was so much for the kids to do. We came home and the kids were wiped out, so we put them down and played Wii with my parents! I love it when they are here.

Birthday weekend #1

As we all know our little Savannah is turning 5 this Thursday!!! This past weekend Rob's mom flew in to celebrate Savannah's birthday with us. On Saturday morning we had a small kids party, she had some friends over and we made some cupcakes and the played and opened presents. We went shopping that evening and Savannah's Maga (Rob's mom, Savannah calls her Maga) bought her a bike. She was so excited. She's been giving it a try and is a little discouraged, but will keep trying. I love when family comes to visit, and Rob's mom is such a big help. This past weekend was a lot of fun, and this week should be pretty busy. Savannah starts a new dance studio tonight, and this Thursday she will be 5 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pictures coming soon!
