Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cookies

Our neighborhood has the cutest tradition. The week before Halloween each family bakes fun treats and we "Boo" our neighbors. You leave the piece of paper saying they've been "boo-ed" along with their treats, ring the doorbell and run. The kids think this is the funnest thing ever invented. This year we baked pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. They turned out so YUMMY. Here's the recipe we used:

My little Pumpkins

I love this time of year. I love that this year I can enjoy the holidays. Last year I really wanted to enjoy the holidays, but I knew Rob was leaving right after Christmas and it put a damper on my festivities. This year is different. My sweet husband will be here for it all, and I even get him for a couple months after that.

We bought some pumpkins last weekend to carve, but the kiddos had no interest in carving them...they wanted to paint them. It was so much fun to get messy and paint with them. This Halloween will be so much fun. We are going to a Trunk-or-treat/Chili cook-off at church on the 30th , then the base is doing their trick-or-treating on Saturday night, which I love. I felt weird about celebrating Halloween on the Sabbath, but now we won't have to worry about it. I am also excited that my parents are coming down to be with the kiddos. My parents used to love taking us trick-or-treating so I assume its even better taking your grandkids!

As an update on the kiddos, Porter has been trying to weed out his nap...but never makes it past 5pm without falling asleep. Poor little guy. So now he usually sleeps between 4-6 and then is up for quite a while at night, but sleeps through the night. His digestion issues have cleared up, so thankfully its not an allergy. So now we get to ressume potty-training ...Yay! (insert sarcasm).

Savannah just received her progress report from school and is doing so well. She has received a 100% on every spelling test she has taken. She is doing so well, I love how curious she is about everything around her.

This pregnancy is going so well. I have to start the progesterone shots this next week, which I'm not excited about but I am willing to give it a whirl if it will keep this little one in longer.

Eight years ago today Rob and I had our first date. It was a Saturday and I remember Rob called me that morning to ask me out for that night, and I remember thinking he was such a sweet guy...it would probably be fun. I was right. Rob is such an amazing person and I noticed that very early on. I felt drawn to him immediately and we were engaged quickly after. I am so very grateful I said yes that day. It was the beginning of something so wonderful.

17 week update

I am 17 weeks along now, and feeling great. The morning sickness is gone and I feel the little flutters from time to time. I haven't gained any weight yet but have a bump. I went for an ob check today and he brought up the idea of doing progesterone shots weekly from now until week 36 to ensure I don't go into pre-term labor again. Low progesterone levels can be a big factor in early labor and I've been taking the oral form of progesterone for a while no and my levels are still borderline low, so just to be sure I will start the shots next week and continue on until I'm told to stop. Hopefully this will keep this one in longer.

Boomer-Q

This will probably just be a random post. Nothing major has happened around here. Rob's still trying to digest the fact that we're not moving to St. Louis and also the fact that he will be deploying a month after our baby comes. On a happier note he had the day off today( Thanks Columbus). He took Savannah to school then came home and played with me and Porter. We ran some errands and decided to try a new barbe-que place that just opened named Billy Sims. Its an OU themed barbeque joint, and it was SO GOOD! Its the best we've had in Oklahoma. So now we're home and cleaning up a bit until Savannah gets out. Its been a great day.

This has been a week!

This has been quite the week. As most of you know we were waiting to hear if the Active duty military was going to let Rob switch from active duty to guard so he could take a job he was offered in St. Louis. Well, we finally received an answer...they said no. It really wasn't what we were expecting. At least the waiting is over and we can look forward to what we have here.
Now that we know we will be bringing a newborn into our starting-to-get-snug home we've been overhauling, re-decorating and organizing. Speaking of newborn...I'm creating a little poll so we can vote as to what you think we're having next. I have a feeling its a girl...and I have a 50% chance of being right:)

I found these shots on my camera from when we were in Branson for Ivan's baby blessing. We can't wait to see him again.
